Winners Announced in the 2021 Master Builders Victorian Excellence in Housing Awards

Construct Melbourne wins Best Renovation/Addition in the 2021 Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Housing Awards after being nominated as finalists for Best Custom New Home between $1,500,000 – $2,000,000 for their Summerhill Project and Best Renovation/Addition between $500,000-$750,000 for their Ardrie Project.
The Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards series honours members that demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, show a commitment to excellence in construction and uphold the professional standard of their members.
Ardrie Renovation wins Best Renovation/Addition $500,000-$750,000
The Construct Melbourne team were thrilled for their Ardrie Project to be announced as the winning project under the Best Renovation/Addition category. The project was a major renovation and extension of a heritage-listed Federation brick home in Malvern East. The rear of the existing home was removed, with the home's interior undergoing a complete renovation. A modern extension was built onto the rear of the home, housing a large open plan kitchen and living area, study and butlers pantry. The new space opens to a large timber deck and lawn area surrounding the luxury in-ground pool. A spacious garage and carport were built onto the side of the property for added functionality. The success of this project lay in the seamless joining of the existing heritage-listed home with the brand new modern rear extension, including on the exterior where the old red bricks meet the modern black cladding.

After completing a trade apprenticeship in carpentry in 2004, Rhyse Mazza worked as a contract residential carpenter in Queensland and then as a construction supervisor for a commercial company here in Melbourne. Rhyse Mazza is now a qualified residential builder registered in both Victoria and in Queensland. In 2017, he obtained a Diploma in Building Construction from Master Builders Victoria. Rhyse then established Construct Melbourne, where he is the Managing Director employing four professional staff, four tradesmen and two apprentices. Construct Melbourne focuses on designing and delivering custom new homes and extensions/renovations. Rhyse has established a very high benchmark for quality homes. Rhyse is a very well accomplished, composed, and confident young professional builder who has created a team around himself with similar work ethics, building culture and an eye for detail. Rhyse prides himself on the level of detail, quality of finish, and client satisfaction for each and every project.
As winners for the Victorian Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards, Construct Melbourne’s Ardrie Project renovation has been announced as finalist within the National Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards, with winners being announced in April. Rhyse Mazza is also a finalist within the National Master Builders Awards, in the company of the nations most talented and acclaimed builders.
