Before and After – Creating the ultimate Australian coastal renovation.

After some well needed TLC, this coastal home promises timeless design, immersed within lush greenery in Portsea, Victoria.

It is no secret that Australia is known for its stunning beach lifestyle. Coastal residences pay homage to the much-loved seaside way of life and the strong connection to the surrounding environment. In recent times, the importance of bringing these elements previously enjoyed mostly on vacation has become increasingly important as many look to their home to support an everyday staycation. In this article, we share some ways you can bring a touch of coastal luxury to your next project or renovation.

Prioritise Natural Light

The warmth that permeates through as the space welcomes the journey of the sun throughout the day can have a plethora of benefits to a home. The affinity with natural light extends far further than that of beautiful aesthetics, with research supporting physical and psychological health – crucial elements when aiming to achieve a truly balanced and relaxed space.

Portsea Renovation boasts countless spaces flooded with natural light. Spaces were opened to showcase the botanical surrounding and ensure maximum natural light enters the home. Portsea Renovation is the perfect example of the balance between light and shadow play as the sun moves throughout the day.

Blend Functionality with Escapism

When aiming to achieve a home renovation that brings the relaxed beach lifestyle with you, take the opportunity to blend everyday functionality with some well needed areas to escape. Something as simple as a quiet retreat where you can enjoy a book can spark similar feelings experienced from a well needed getaway.

Portsea Renovation features quiet spaces throughout where a calm moment can be enjoyed. Whether it be by the fire surrounded by the earthy oyster limestone, or breathing in the crisp coastal air on the surrounding merbau deck, these small yet significant elements support meaningful rituals for an intentional lifestyle.

Cohesive Interior Design

Whether it be a new build or renovating an existing dwelling, maintaining a cohesive design throughout is paramount when creating your ideal environment.

A breath of new life was injected to the existing Portsea dwelling to celebrate this coastal home with a contemporary yet minimal aesthetic. The home features a natural element as seen in the original Tasmanian Oak floorboards, limestone detailing above the fireplace and to the façade of the home and a neutral palette of colours and textures. To support a tranquil environment, a splash of colour was used, such as the use of feature green tiling in the main bathroom, tying in the peaceful coastal interiors throughout all areas.
